I design based on 40 th year ABAC Anniversary CA-Exhibition art direction and design the new keys visual for Visual Communication Arts Department.

This exhibition will launch on 8th of April 2011 at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thailand and the new U.S. Ambassador "Kristie Kenney" will visiting on that.

The design for Faculty of Communications' exhibition was based on 5 department areas : Advertising, Visual Communication, Public relation, New Media Communication, Performance Communication and Alumni table section under the concept of 'DNA' with simply design in minimal style typography on the 200x230 cm. and 25 partitions. My Thai Fingerspelling research was, as well, exhibited in the research section of VA department.

All art direction, graphic design, partition and structure designed by N.U.A.T Design.

After completing Master Degree from MA Communication Design Central St.Martin College of Art and Design by Hand signal and Pictorial symbol of BSL Dictionary and Nattanan has started applying the advanced design of Thai fingerspelling with Setsatian School under royal patronage with fully supported by the Department of Visual Communications at Assumption University

The design of fingerspelling has closely been monitored and approved by the teachers (Ajarn Waraporn Jungsuwadee) of Setsathian School to assure that it works and is eligible to be used as academic media. Nattanan also developed the poster of both Thai and American fingerspelling and designed the font “Nattanan TSL Fingerspelling” for the first time with Thai and American font template supported the font template by type designer, Mr.Pol Udomvittayanukul.(www.f0nt.com) The posters and font are now available for free download on Setsatian School’s website (http://www.setsatian.ac.th). The pictorial symbol will be the new standard for communication and beneficial for creating the new academic media for disabled students by the teachers themselves and all those who are interested in hand signal.

Dictionary of British Sign Language (BSL): redesigned the content more than 1,300 hand signals based on the Dictionary of British Sign Language compiled by the British Deaf Association (David Brien and Mary Brennan).

Context:

Since 15^th century when people started learning how to communicate by hand in the way of non-verbal communication, many cultures and languages have their own sign languages and not only the deaf who communicate with it but also we can see sign language used by people in several professions.

The objective of this project is to collect and understand the information about sign language, hand signals, and the human movement. The design is based on ‘pictorial symbol’ and ‘Isotype’ design for supporting the human form with the whole hand

My project scope focuses on hand signal and profession book from British Sign language (BSL) Dictionary and international finger spelling timeline chart.

Scope of works:

British Sign language Dictionary/The collection of hand signals/International finger spelling chart poster/British finger spelling chart poster/American finger spelling chart poster/ ASL+BSL pictorial font set.

หลังจาก part02 ซึ่งเป็นการพัฒนาระบบและโครงสร้าง มือพื้นฐาน มาถึงใน part03 นี้เป็นการดำเนินต่อของการพัฒนารูปแบบคน และเครื่องแบบ และแยกชุดข้อมูล เพื่อใช้ในการเปรียบเทียบข้อมูลต่างๆ

ซึ่งในที่สุดก็มาถึงจุดสำคัญของการเรียนปีหนึ่งใน MACD คือการรวบรวมข้อมูลเพื่อฟรีเซ้นงานต่อคณะกรรมการ และเพื่อนร่วมคลาสทั้งสิ้น หกสิบกว่าคน ในระยะเวลาคนละประมาณ สิบห้านาทีและถามตอบอีกประมาณ ห้าถึงสิบนาที รวมสี่วันโดย การฟรีเซ้นครั้งนี้มีผลเพื่อแสดงการทำงานและผลสรุป ของการเรียนปีหนึ่ง และเป็นการประเมิณผล (assessment) ในการเรียนปีสองต่ออีกด้วย

จากข้อมูลที่สรุปมาทั้งหมดนั้น เป็นการรวบรวมการเคลื่อนไหวของมือโดยการเก็บข้อมูลและเปลี่ยนข้อมูลในรูปแบบที่ได้จัดเตรียมเอาไว้และนำมาทับซ้อนเพื่อทำให้เกิดการเปรียบเทียบของข้อมูลจนทำให้เห็น มิติและรายละเอียดการเคลื่อนไหวในภาพรวมของจำนวนข้อมูลที่ต่างกัน โดยผลสรุปและคะแนนที่ออกมาเป็นที่หน้าพอใจมากพอๆกับเวลาและพลังที่เสียไป

จากจุดนี้การพัฒนาชุดข้อมูลยังคงต้องดำเนินไปพร้อมกับการค้นหาแง่มุมใหม่ๆของการสร้างความสัมพันธ์ของภาษาและ อื่นๆอีกมากมายใน ปีสอง (เฮ่อ...อ้วกส์)

เนื่องด้วยทาง Practical Studio กำลังดำเนินการโครงการเกี่ยวกับกลุ่มนักออกแบบกราฟิกไทยภายใต้ชื่อโครงการว่า
“ฉันเป็นนักออกแบบกราฟิกไทย (I am a Thai Graphic Designer)” โดยจะนำเสนอออกมารูปแบบวารสาร RawMat
(ด้วยความร่วมมือของ บริษัท แอนทาลิส (ประเทศไทย) และพยายามผลักดันไปสู่รูปแบบนิทรรศการในพื้นที่สาธารณะ
(สยาม ดิสคัพเวอรี่ และ สยาม เซ็นเตอร์) รวมไปถึงการขยายไปสู่รูปแบบอื่นๆ ตามโอกาสอำนวย

ขอเชิญนักออกแบบกราฟิกส่งผลงานเข้าร่วมโครงการ “ฉันเป็นนักออกแบบกราฟิกไทย”

โครงการ “ฉันเป็นนักออกแบบกราฟิกไทย (I am a Thai Graphic Designer)”
เป็นโครงการที่ต้องการรวบรวมภาพถ่ายนักออกแบบกราฟิกไทยทั้งที่อยู่ในประเทศไทยและทำงานหรือศึกษาต่ออยู่ที่ต่างประเทศให้มากที่สุด
โดยภาพถ่ายเหล่านั้นจะเป็นภาพถ่ายของนักออกแบบแต่ละคนที่ถือแผ่นกระดาษ A3 ที่มีผลงานออกแบบตัวอักษรคำว่า “ฉันเป็นนักออกแบบกราฟิกไทย”
หรือ “I am a Thai Graphic Designer” โดยรูปแบบของผลงานนั้นขึ้นอยู่กับความคิดของนักออกแบบเจ้าของงาน

➝ โดยมีข้อกำหนดการส่งภาพถ่ายเข้าร่วมดังต่อไปนี้ :
1. ขอให้ส่งภาพถ่ายเป็นไฟล์ JPEG ขนาด A4 (21 ซม. x 29.7 ซม.) ความละเอียด 300 dpi ตั้งชื่อไฟล์เป็นชื่อและนามสกุลเป็นภาษาอังกฤษเท่านั้น
2. ภาพที่ส่งมาต้องเห็นผลงานบนกระดาษที่ถือชัดเจนและเป็นแนวนอนเท่านั้น
3. ผู้ส่งผลงานจะต้องส่งข้อมูลส่วนบุคคลให้ครบถ้วน
ชื่อ-นามสกุล (ทั้งภาษาไทยและภาษาอังกฤษ) / ที่อยู่ที่ติดต่อสะดวก / ชื่อบริษัทหรือองค์กร / ตำแหน่ง /
เบอร์โทรศัพท์ / มือถือ / อีเมล์ / เว็บไซต์ (ถ้ามี) / เว็บบล็อก (ถ้ามี)
4. นักศึกษาออกแบบสามารถส่งผลงานเข้าร่วมได้ แต่ขอให้ระบุข้อมูลสถานศึกษาและชั้นปีด้วย
5. ผลงานทุกชิ้นถือเป็นลิขสิทธิ์ของนักออกแบบเจ้าของผลงาน ทางผู้จัดโครงการจะใช้ในการเผยแพร่ผ่านสิ่งพิมพ์ เว็บไซต์
และการจัดนิทรรศการเท่านั้น การส่งผลงานถือว่าเจ้าของผลงานให้ความยินยอมในการเผยแพร่ผลงานนั้น

เนื้องจากเป็นโปเจคระยะยาวและลึก จึงต้องใช้เวลาการพิจารณาและการตัดสินใจอยู่นานมาก มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงและทดลองขอเนื้อหาหลายต่อหลายครั้ง เริ่มจากเรื่องเส้นลายมือที่ทำการค้นคว้าอยู่หลายอาทิตย์ แต่ผลที่ได้ไม่เป็นที่น่าพอใจของตัวเอง และ ยากที่จะพิสูจย์ได้จริง

จึงจำเป็นต้องหันมามองหาเนื้อหาข้อมุลใหม่ๆมากขึ้น

"ภาษามือ"คือหนึ่งศาสตร์ที่คนเราคิดขึ้นเพื่อทำลายกำแพงภาษาและเพิ่มภาระขึ้นให้แก่ร่างกาย เช่นกันในหลากหลายอาชีพ ภาษามือในตำแหน่งเดียวกันจะให้ความหมายในหลายแง่มุม โดยมีข้อมูลที่แตกต่างหรือเหมือนกันในระบบจำนวนมหาศาล ซึ่งแม้ว่าจะมีการจัดการมาแล้วนับไม่ถ้วนแต่ยังไม่มีใครสร้างแผนภูมิและจัดระบบเพื่อแสดงความชัดเจนของพื้นที่ของข้อมูลที่ปรากฏขึ้นจริงๆ จึงเป็นโอกาสที่จะได้ทดลองทำในสิ่งที่ท้าทายและที่สำคัญไม่เกี่ยวข้องกับอัตตาส่วนตัวอีกด้วย

ใน Part01 หรือ ภาคแรกนี้เป็ั้นการฟรีเซ็นต่อหน้า อาจารย์และเพื่อนร่วมชั้นของ นักเรียนกราฟิค จำนวน สามสิบกว่าคน ซึ่งทุกคนก็จะฟรีเซ็นงานและการค้นคว้าของตนเองเช่นกัน

ในส่วนของผมเอง ได้สร้างโปสเตอรขนาด A0 ทำมือ เพื่อแสดงขอบเขตของภาษามือที่ใช้ในร่างกายคน โดยใช้วิธีตัดแปะเบื้องต้น ซึ่งค่อนข้างใช้เวลานานและใช้กำลังมากเช่นกัน รวมถึงการพัฒนารูปแบบมือ และ แนวทางภาพ( art direction) ที่จะใช้ในการพัฒนาตัวงานต่อไป โดยข้อเสนอแนะของงานภาพจะไปในแนวการ เพิ่มรูปแบบที่ชัดเจนและใช้งานง่ายต่อไป ซึ่งการทดลองจะอยู่ใน Part02 โปรดติดตาม.......

จากการเก็บข้อมูลและเดินทางไปชมงานที่ RCA เมื่อปลายปีที่แล้ว จึงเป็นจุดเริ่มให้เกิดการ ส่งมอบเรื่องราวและภาพถ่ายให้แก่ทีมงาน Display egazine ทั้งรูปภาพและข้อมูลรวมถึงบทบรรยายบางช่วงใน คอร์ลั่ม "Droppin exhibition " ใน Display egazine เล่มที่ 23 นี้ ที่เป็นเนื้อหาและภาพของ "RCA work in progress"รวมถึงภาพผลงานของผม(2010 believe it or not!!?) ซึ่งเป็นส่วนนึงในงานแสดงของเพื่อนๆชาว MACD ในนิทรรศการ "Twenty 10" เมื่อต้นปีที่ผ่านมาอีกด้วย

ทั้งนี้ขอบคุณพิเศษสำหรับ คุณปู บก.ใจดีของ Display egazine ที่เปิดพื้นที่ให้ ชาว MACD ได้แสดงงานให้ชาวไทยได้เห็น และ น้องมินสำหรับรูปถ่ายมากๆครับ

สืบเนื่องจากหัวข้อของ dissertation กับ studio project ที่ข้าพเจ้าสนใจในเรื่องของ "มือ"และการสือสาร การสร้าง นัยยทางการสื่อสารด้วยมือ จึงเป็นที่มาการของการทดลอง ย่อย ในการฟรีเซ้นงานของ MACD ในหัวข้อ "What if" คือการตั้งคำถามกับสิ่งที่เราค้นคว้าหรือ สนใจอยู่ แน่นอนมันคงไม่ง่ายเลยหากเราจะมองสิ่งที่เราค้นคว้าในมุมกลับและตั้งประเด็๋นในการสร้างงานใหม่ๆ

แต่ในที่สุด คำถามที่ว่านอกจากการสื่อสารด้วยมือ การเคลื่อนไหว หรือการแสดงตัวตนด้วยอวัยวะที่เรียกว่ามือนั้น จะเป็นอย่างไร (What if) ถ้าเราวาดรูปหรือเขียนเส้นทั้งมือซ้ายและขวา พร้อมกันโดยที่สมองหรือสติไม่ครบหรือไม่ร้อมที่จะทำงาน

ครับนี่คือที่มาของการทดลองนี้ ผมแบ่งการทดลองนี้ออกเป็นสอง ช่วงด้วยกัน ช่วงแรกคือการวาด portrait หลังจากการหมุนรอบตัวเอง ยี่สิบรอบแล้ววาดรูปภายในเวลา หนึ่งนาทีเพื่อ เป้นการ ดูและแสดงผลงานการทำงานร่วมกันของสมองและมือ ส่วนช่วงที่สอง ทดลองต่อด้วยการหมุน ตัวอีกยี่สิบรอบและนั่งเขียนเส้นตรงพร้อมๆกันทั้งมือซ้ายและมือขวา ในเวลาเดิมคือหนึ่งนาที เมื่อการทดลองเริ่มขึ้น อากาศอยู่ที่ 7-8 องศาได้ ความมั่นใจ 120% แต่ร่างกาย 80% เพราะมีอาการไม่ดีจากอาหารแต่การทดลองก็เป็นไปอย่างตื่นเต้นและเร้าใจ ผลสรุปที่ออกมาตามงานดังกล่าวพบว่า ภาพลายเส้นจากที่มือแสดงออกยังแสดงตัวตนและลักษณะลายเส้นของผมได้ดี แต่ไม่สามารถเก็บรายละเอียดได้เลย เพราะสิ่งที่ จ้องกับสิ่งที่อยู่ในสมองมันสับสนกันอยู่สมองไม่สามารถควบคุมได้เต็มที่ และ อยากจะรีบทำให้เสร็จๆไปเร็ว ขาดสุนทรียในการวาดเป็นอย่างมาก ส่วนการลากเส้นด้วยมือทั้งสองนั้นผลคือ เส้นออกมาเหมือนกันเท่ากันทั้งขนาดและน้ำหนัก เพราะไม่จำเป็นต้อง เน้นลายละเอียดหรือเน้นส่วนต่างๆมากนัก แต่การทดลองจำต้องสิ้นสุดลงในการทดลองช่วงที่สองเพราะ สภาพร่างกายรับไม่ได้ อาเจียนและ ป่วยในเวลาต่อมา ผลจากการหมุนทำให้คลื่นไส้ ขาดการควบคุม และอาเจียนตามมา รวมมถึงอาการ ไข้หวัดและคลื่นเหียนเป็๋นระยะหลายวัน

เนื่องจากเวลาได้ล่วงมาเกือบสองเดือนแล้ว การย้ายมาบ้านใหม่ทำให้กระตุ้นต่อมทำงานเป็นที่สุด

แต่หลาย ปัจจัย ไม่มีปริ้นเตอร์ ไม่มีสีเยอะ ผ้าใบแพงมากก และไม่มีรถต้องขึ้้นรถเมลล์กับรถไฟ

ทำให้ งานชิ้นนี้ได้เกิดขึ้้น โดยความจำเป้นนั่นเอง

3D posters คือ งานที่ลองวาดผสมกับงานเพ้นท์ติ้งกับงานกราฟฟิก ลงบนกระดาษ A1

ด้วยสามสีคือ ดำ น้ำเงิน และแดง ผลที่ได้คือ งานสนุกๆที่ต้องดูด้วยแว่น 3 มิติ ครับ!!

พูดเหมือนโม้แต่พอใส่แว่นที่ว่านี้แล้ว เกิดความวูบวาบแล้วมีบางสิ่งลอยออกมา นิดๆ(นิดๆครับ)

แต่สีแดงจะชัดมาที่สุดและให้การมองผ่านแว่นนี้ ทำให้เกิดความพิเศษมากกว่าการมอง ภาพสองมิติทั่วไปจริงๆ เส้นสีดำจะมีความชัดในตัวของมันอยู่แล้ว และทำให้เกิดควาสัมพันธ์ของสองสิ่งนั่นเอง

ผลคือออออออ

ใส่แว่นก็จ้าบ ไม่ใส่ก็แจ๋ง

สนุกลูกตาดีทีเดียว....ปวดตามากใส่อยู่เป็นชั่่่วโมงทีเดียว

เป็นงานทดลองเมื่อนานมาแล้วแต่มีความต่อเนื่องกับ

งาน Legographic ในชุด Typo design โดยเกือบจะตั้งใจ

อันนที่จริงในยุคที่เราแสวงหารูปแบบใหม่ของงานกราฟิค

โดยเนื้องานมากมายที่ทั้งหลายนักออกแบบพยายามสร้างและสื่อสาร

กับสังคมและตัวเองล้วนต้องผ่านกระบวนการลองผิดลองถูกกันมานับ

ครั้งไม่ถ้วนแต่ซึ่ง หลายคน เลือกที่จะเก็บเอาไว้และกลายเป็นหน่วย

ความทรงจำนึงในเครื่องคอมพิมเตอร์ส่วนบุคคล แต่หากมาย้อนดูดีๆแล้ว

งานเก่าๆที่เคยทำอาจจะสร้างแรงบันดาลใจให้ตัวเองอีกครั้งก็เป็นได้

มันเป็นหมุนเวียนความคิดของตัวเองเพื่อพิจารณาอย่างถี่ถ้วนมากกว่าการ

เป็นการแสดงแสงยานุภาพทางจินตนาการนั่นเอง

เนื่องจากเวลาไปเที่ยวกลางคืนตามแหล่งอาบายมุข เรามักจะเจอการตรวจ ปัสสาวะ
และเราก็จะพบกับข่าวต่างๆมากมายเช่นกัน เกี่ยวกับทั้งสิ่งไม่ดีและภาพลักษณ์แปลกๆ

"การผสมผสานเอาของเล่นสำเร็จรูปมาสร้างรูปร่างเพื่อเป็นแบบอักษรทดลองเพื่อการสื่อสาร
โดยมีแรงบันดาลใจจากความไม่ลงตัวและความกะเกณฑ์ที่เหมาะสมมาใช้ในการประดิษฐ์แบบอักษรทดลองนี้

Objective: จุดประสงค์ของการออกแบบ อักขระทดลองชุดนี้ เพื่อเป้นตัวอีกษรสำหรับตบแต่ง (Decorate Typeface)

ซึ่งเกิดจากแรงบันดาลใจที่มาจาก เส้นตรงสมมุติและวิชาตรีโกณมิติในหลัก คณิตศสาตร์ ที่มีการตกกระทบ /สะท้อน /ทะแยง /หักเห

กับมุมต่างๆเหมือนแสงในธรรมชาติหรือมุมมองสะท้อนของธรรมชาติ และนำเอามาสร้างในรูปแบบที่เรียบง่าย
